Smithwick Portrait: Julian Dufort

W Jewelry Summer 2004 Issue
Among the pieces Saralee Smithwick created for her collection, Smithwick Dillon, are jeweled necklaces so delicately woven that she likes to refer to them as camisoles. "It is fun for me sometimes to manipulate stones as if they are fabric," Smithwick says. "The end result can feel almost like an item of clothing." The collection features both new and estate pieces, a mix she hopes will inspire experimentation with both. "The combination of strong vintage with the contemporary can signal a very personal taste as well as a striking look," Smithwick notes. Prices start at $1,900 for diamond chain earrings and can go up to more than $1 million for collectible vintage jewels. Smithwick Dillon is available at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and specialty jewelry stores.
